#ontyte Grand Prix rider and trainer Schuyler Riley gave us some great Golden Nuggets of Wisdom, along with some insight into the exciting new Global Champions League.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT ONTYTE & HOW HAS IT CHANGED YOUR RIDING?
I first tried ONTYTE after coming back from an injury, and I found that it was incredibly secure to be able to feel that I didn’t have to worry about losing my stirrups. I also found that it improved my overall balance as I was always fidgeting to find the perfect spot on the stirrup. I no longer have any knee pain from up and down forces because my foot is not moving around and my leg is stable. I also like that whenever anything happens and I need to come out of my stirrup, I actually come out cleaner then I did with other stirrups.
I also use ONTYTE with my students and I see that it improves their balance, contact and security.
WHAT’S YOUR MOTTO?
Focus on the positive and teach yourself to think in a positive way.
TELL US ABOUT THE NEW GLOBAL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
I’m so excited and proud to be competing in the new Global Champions League for the Monaco Aces. This is an exciting moment for our sport, and of course, I hope my team wins a lot. Jan Tops has always been at the forefront of giving maximum exposure to #showjumping at the biggest events in the best places, and now he is taking the sport in an even bigger, better direction. We will get more corporate and media interest in this discipline on an international level.
The Monaco Aces chose me because my mare, Dobra De Porceyo, won a bunch of Grand Prixs last year, and we have great potential as a team. She is a really consistent horse, jumps a lot of clear rounds, and is going to be a strong player in the Global Champions League.
