More #OntyteGoldenNuggets , this time from the talented Hunter & Show Jumping rider @Hayley Barnhill.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT ONTYTE?
I like the feeling of security that comes with it. We want our horses to give us explosive jumps, and to know that if they do, we will not punish them by losing our stirrups. I also like that you can easily clip in and out of the stirrups, and never worry about getting stuck in.
HOW HAS YOUR RIDING CHANGED WITH ONTYTE?
I definitely worry less about doing bigger jumps and quick turns, or getting jumped loose and maybe losing a stirrup. Also, if something does happen, I can always continue on quickly and feel my stirrups where they need to be.
YOU COMPETE IN HUNTER AND JUMPER CLASSES; DO YOU NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE WITH ONTYTE?
I show in Hunter classes, too, and I use ONTYTE. It’s great to know that I am not going to lose my stirrups when my horses are jumping with a big effort while I’m trying to maintain the best lower leg control and stay in the 2-point.
WHAT IS YOUR BEST RIDING MEMORY?
My favorite riding memory is when I won the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Medal Finals in the 2010. I was young, and until that time I always just competed at smaller shows in Tennessee. I worked really hard to get there and I can say that was the moment when my riding career really took off.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS YEAR?
I have 2 good Grand Prix Horses this year, and I hope to move my horse Beezie up to the top levels.
WHAT’S YOUR TOP TRAINING TIP?
Remember what you learned and practiced, don’t pay attention to others, just go in the ring and do what you know, it’s nothing different than what you do every day.
